panoply (n) – an extensive or impressive collection; a splendid display; a complete suit of armour.

I’m Eleanor R. Wood. I’m a writer… it’s what I do. It’s what I’ve always done, although what I used to scribble in pencil at my childhood desk on rainy days I now type up properly at my grownup desk regardless of the weather. Even when it’s sunny and warm and the birds are singing and the day is beckoning me outdoors. Sigh. Childhood me mostly wrote stories about animals. Grownup me mostly writes speculative fiction, although I had a brief stint writing fishkeeping articles before the science fiction and fantasy stories pestered me to the point where I could no longer ignore them.

So this is a blog about all of the above and my continuing quest for publishing success. Oh, and pedantry. There’s bound to be pedantry.

Pull up a chair and help yourself to some liquorice tea.

  1. Holy crap! I made your list of great writers! I’m truly honored by your assessment of me and I look forward to coming to your site to how your own war in the trenches fares. See you around 🙂

  2. I think, I believe and I certainly hope that you, Eleanor, realize your goal of becoming a successful writer. You certainly write, type up properly well enough and you likely have some stories to tell. If you are undone in your quest, if you were to fail I would think that it would be for your pedantic tendencies, which you came by honestly enough being born British. Don’t let that hold you back….

  3. Hello Eleanor,
I just read your story ‘Fruits of Revolution’ in the Hear Me Roar anthology. I wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed it. I have studied human nutrition and I am also currently writing a futuristic, post-apocalyptic novel, so the themes in this story were right up my alley. Great writing! I’ll be checking out more of your work. Good luck with your writing. 🙂

    1. Hi Melissa,
Thanks so much for your feedback! It’s always lovely to hear from readers, and I’m so glad you enjoyed the story and that the themes resonated with you. Best of luck with your own writing! I hope the novel progresses well. 🙂
